I have had some success with stencil plastic, but sometimes the edges get rough when I peel it off. Glass also works.
Glass. Using plexi isn’t good because it’s a type of plastic and so is acrylic paint–they are going to want to bond to each other. Use glass.
look in your yellow pages for plastic manufacturers,, you want to find a vacuum form molder, they will have sheets of various plastics,,, also there are several types of silicone sprays in the industry you could try to lightly spray onto your surfaces, some sprays are made to be non paintable (paint wont stick), some sprays are paintable ( paint will stick), have you tried glass?,
