Put several large safety pins all the way through it to hold the batting in place. Remove after drying.
Why do they need to be cleaned? Just because you had a virus? Or did you vomit on them?
If you are only worried about the virus, just wash the pillowcases.
Otherwise, just spot clean the pillows with a bit of dishsoap and a wash cloth instead of soaking and wringing them.
If you dry them in the dryer on low heat with a couple of tennis balls, it helps. They may still ball up though, no guarantees…. good luck!
Amanda’s idea may work. It would be similar to my suggestion, but without having to sew. I have basted some nice big stitches (maybe six or eight evenly spaced) in the pillows before washing and this worked well. Take out before or after drying and fluff. Best Wishes to You.
