It’s not really advisable to use a memory foam mattress in conjunction with a coil mattress. Memory foam is designed to be placed on a firm surface, and the compression of the foam is what shapes to your body and provides the support. The instability of the coil mattress will not allow the memory foam to work as designed.
The box spring base may be firm enough to support it, you may have to try it out. Alternatively use the box spring with a thin (.5") piece of plywood on top of it to provide a firm base for your memory foam mattress. Hypnia do make memory foam mattresses with their own ‘Reflex Base Layer’ which is designed to be laid on a slatted or solid bed base, I suspect this would work well.
