I have a nice, neutral, reversible down-alternative comforter at Linens & Things that I love. It has a micro-fiber soft feel to it and washes really well. I don’t see anything exactly like it on their website, but this (in khaki) looks similar to the light side: http://www.lnt.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3063901&cp=1331605.2098789&parentPage=family
I believe mine is a Wamsutta. I’ve had it for a couple years now and it still looks new. Hubby loves it because it’s soft. It’s warm enough for winter here in the South but doesn’t roast us in the summer so I can leave it on year-round. So bottom-line, I would grab that Linens & Things coupon they always send in the mail (or the Bed Bath & Beyond 20% off – they honor that too) and head to the store for a look. Good luck!
Update: I think this is gorgeous too, but not sure what price range you’re looking for:
