Why can one only find a Sealy Posturepedic specific name at a particular retailer? How can one price shop?

Sears carries different specific names than Macy’s than JCPenneys, etc.

I found this out last time i was shopping for a mattress.
No two mattresses are the same name in different stores.
They do this so we can’t price compare . It is very frustrating.
The best idea is to find the size and firmness you like and just get it if it’s in your price range.
Good luck
Most "why" questions can be answered by following the money. It’s usually the answer to why things are a certain way. It is so the manufacturer can maintain its prices while providing a decent profit margin to the retailers and a lot of companies do it, with at least some if not most of their products. Shoes, power tools, and electronics to name a few, are often marketed in a similar manner to thwart consumers from making accurate price comparisons and provide a degree of exclusivity to the retailer.
