How do I get rid of residual cat litter odor?

I just moved into an apartment where the previous owners seem to have kept their litter box in a closet that I would like to use as my linen closet. What is the best way to get rid of this lingering smell? I have scrubbed and bleached, placed a box of baking soda, burnt a candle — to no avail. Help?

How to remove dog urine from bed sheets?

Last night my dog peed on the bed and I immediately took the sheets off the bed and washed. I used a 1/2 cup borax and some baking soda– as well as a color safe bleach to clean them.

My question is do you think I removed the smell? To my nose, I don’t detect anything, but wasn’t sure if the dog would be able to smell and maybe pee there again in the future.

Luckily I had a matress pad on the bed, which I washed the same way to prevent the matress from getting ruined.

My bedroom has a musky smell?

I have recently noticed in the mornings my bedroom has a musty, dark odor.

A friend of mine had the same smell and i hated it! I know he had different bedding than me so i don’t think that is it. I want to get rid of it but not sure where it is coming from.

I sleep on the floor on a thick futon mattress with a thin Korean style futon mattress on top of that for extra cushion. The Korean futon, sheets, and pillow cases are silk and I wash them once a month.

I have thought about putting the futon in the sun to see if that helped and I air out the room daily. I am not sure if it is me, the mattress, sweat or what! I do keep the door and window closed but have forever and it is only recently the smell started.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have also used fabreeze at nasaum! I just don’t know what it is.
The sheets can’t be cleaned more than once a month because they are pure 100% silk. I have consulted many designers, fabric fabricators and such and they all recommend to keep the silk in good condition to not wash it more than once a month or it will fall apart.

The baking soda idea and vaccum are great totally slipped my mind!

How do you clean a memory foam mattress?

I looked up mattress cleaning on Google and so far I’ve found using baking soda then vacuuming the mattress – not bad ideas, but is their anything more efficient? Is there a spray perhaps?

- Thank you for your wisdom :-)

I think the smell is from storing a number of different stronger smelling vitamins/minerals in the cabinets (took them out). But also the smell seems to be in the bed mattress, it is a mystery to me… but I would like to know if there is anything that will neutralize the smell. I have tried air fresheners and baking soda and airing out but the vitamin smell just continues to take over and permeate.

Hi! My husband and I just moved back to the US after four years overseas. While we were gone, our stuff sat in storage, including this mattress. No matter how I try, I cannot get the musty smell out of it. I have put baking soda on it and vacuumed. I have put scented carpet powder for pet smells/mold on it and vacuumed. I have sprayed the mattress down with antibacterial disinfectant spray and vacummed. I have Frebreezed and everything. Still, the mattress smells musty and dusty. It is so bad, that the whole room smells musty (thankfully, it is only a spare bedroom). And even worse, if you lay anything on the bed, like clothes, the smell transfers to the clothes.

I told my husband that the mattress has to go. He still thinks it can be saved. So I have come to you all seeking the answer.

Is the mattress beyond hope? Should I throw it out? Or can the mattress be saved? Do you have a remedy for the smell?

Looking forward to your ideas and answers.
Thanks…
T.

Okay so this morning I accidentally spilled some juice on the futon but I don’t want my cousin to know because it’s hers. The stain is about as big as a mature Labrador dog. I sprinkled the baking soda onto the stain but it would come out when I was trying to scrub it off. It’s still kind of wet. My cousin does not own a vacuum. I really need to do this now or I will be in big trouble. HELP!?

Drying a goose down comforter?

My dog peed all over my down comforter. Right now we are trying to get the smell out by letting the half she marked sit in the tub with a little water and baking soda. People are telling me to put it in the washer, but I dont have a front loading washer and its too late to take it to a laundromat. Can I still dry it in my at home dryer, even though its not an extra large dryer and the comforter is a California King?

We tried spraying it with a deodorizer, but maybe we didn’t try the right one. We currently have baking soda on it, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Perhaps we haven’t given it enough time to work. In the next week, the mattress will not be used, affording us the opportunity to try various remedies.
To those who choose not to answer the question but to heap scorn on me for purchasing a used mattress, I offer this: When you stay in a hotel, do you insist upon a new mattress?

I thought about dumping a box of baking soda on it and let it soak up odor and moisture . Some one said pet stores have enzyme stuff .

I just discovered that my altered adult male cat must have apparently urinated on our goose down comforter sometime this winter. It is only on one spot where he normally sleeps.
I checked with the cleaners and they informed me that dry cleaning will not remove the oder.
Does anybody have any old fashioned remedies for removing the smell? It can be washed in the washing machine. Should I add baking soda? Or something else? Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

3 days ago we bought 2 rats from Petco. They are appx. 12 weeks old and hooded. Sister rats. We bought them and walked home with them after riding home on the city bus. Shortly after one of the girls started sneezing, I thought at first it might be form the cold weather that day but then I realized from other q’s and a’s that the bedding might be the problem, we made the mistake of getting a mix of wood shavings (such as pine) Wellllllll point of the matter, I found a recipe to make my own bedding: shredded newspaper/magazines/reg paper …warm water… eco friendly dish soap and baking soda, I a currently drying it in a pillow case in the dryer. My ULTIMATE question is, has anyone used this method, and dide it work to ease up on the sneezing. I also gave the rats some garlic cloves which they loved, because i read that it might help. Thanks!
