My one roommate definitely has evidence of bed bugs in his room and has since gotten rid of his mattress and box spring. My question is how easily can the move to other rooms of the house? And if I have not noticed any evidence of them in my room, is there chances that they are still there? The rooms are about 20 feet apart separated by a large open area with clothes closets in between.

I read that I could put cinder /concrete) blocks under a box spring (bed skirt to cover it obviously) to make it higher and give storage underneath a bed.. after realizing how heavy those are, realized I can’t do that. Also heard of people using crates (the usual kind of crates, at grocers, etc.) to raise it up. I’m wondering if that’d provide enough support for the box spring and mattress? Has anyone tried it.. and lastly, I did get rid of my bed frame since being at the top level (my apt.,) i thought it made too much noise, now the bed is just too low…has anyone heard of having two box springs to raise a bed, and what sort of feel would that give the bed then?? Thanks!

I was given a matress that was infected with bed bugs, we sprayed the matress and continued to get bitten. we eventually threw out the matress and burned it. Now we have a new matress and have seen more bedbugs, one on the box spring of the mattress(which is also new) and one on the bedroom chair.

I am living in a temporary situation and have an old broken box spring, and a fairly new mattress (1 year old). Is it better to put the mattress on the broken box spring that is very old and in terrible shape, or is it better to just put the mattress on the floor? Can the box spring in fact damage the mattress?

I currently have a queen sized bed captain’s bed. I have a box spring and then a pillow top mattress. I’d like to replace the mattress with a memory foam style mattress. Will that work with my box spring or would that also have to be replaced with something?

We bought a pretty nice box spring and mattress in 1999. Just wondering how long people keep theirs. We are thinking it might be about time to replace it but would prefer to hold off if it’s still got a few more good years on it.

We have a Kings Down nice high riser type mattress and box spring , ,I have been having back problems and it seems when I wake up in the am its worse after being on that mattress, so I could never understand why the fitted sheets cant be brought all the way down on the corners until thither day I pulled everything up an there is this thick top pad under the fitted sheet , now correct me if I’m wrong but do you really need this extra top pad on top of the sewed on factory pad that it was intended for, this could be my back problem and maybe to get rid of the extrta top pad would solve things. If anyone knows about these matress things I would appreciate it thank you.
I have tried the board trick years ago and it didn’t work ,it was even worse.
If I paid enough for this 20 year mattress why would I want to even cover the sewed in top pillow on it,I figure just keep it clean with a good fitted sheet over it?

I’m looking at something like the Fjordgard mattress, but I already have a box spring and a metal bed frame. Will this shorten the life of the mattress or affect the quality? Thanks!

If I have a mattress with no box spring, I need a metal bed frame, right? So if I get a metal bed frame, can I put a bed skirt on it? How does it go on? And can I put a headboard on a metal frame?

Termites got into the wood in the box spring. Is it safe to transport the mattress alone to another location, or will I be transporting termites as well? I really want to keep the mattress, but don’t want to keep the termites.

We just ordered a king size mattress set and am curious if they send a king size box spring or two seperate smaller box springs. We live on the second floor of the condo building and are concerned that a king size box spring will not be able to make it around the steps.

I bought a brand new queen sized Serta mattress along with box spring and the frame and everything at a decent price ~ 650. its about 6 months and it seems to sink from the center. When I try to turn it feels like climbing a hill.
I agree that I wanted a harder mattress but this exact mattress felt very comfortable at the store because of its padding and softness. Also, the weird thing is its not a two sided mattress. The other side of the mattress is hard and so I can’t flip it every 6 months.
Is there something I can do with warranty or can I simply put the mattress on the floor or something wrong with my box frame? I wake up with a pain in the neck and back but sleep has been well.

I need a mattress and I can’t afford to spend the 9 (cheapest price I found so far) and I don’t want one of those "always a little short" compressed mattresses. I was thinking…can I buy a soft side water bed mattress and fill it with air instead of water? I found one for like 0, a little more affordable. I have a split queen box spring to put it on.
