I just opened my first fiberbed and placed it under the mattress pad, but now my fitted sheet is struggling to stay on and my bed looks incredibly high. Did I put it in the right place?

I’m going to college in the fall and on the list it says mattress pad. I have a bad back and want to buy the best one available so that I can sleep comfortably and am confused as to the difference of a feather bed, mattress pad, or a fiberbed. Any insight you can give would be helpful. Thanks.
