I’m planning on buying some flannel sheets for a twin XL mattress from LL Bean, and they’re not sold as a set: pillowcases, flat sheets, and fitted sheets are sold separately. The fitted sheet comes in the XL size, but the flat sheet only comes in regular twin and full sizes. I like to tuck my sheets OVER my comforter (which will be twin-sized)… will the twin size be long enough to cover the mattress AND tuck over on the comforter, or should I buy the full size and just tuck the excess side fabric under?

I have these flannel sheets that just get more and more fuzzy pill things on them everytime I wash them. Does anyone have any bright ideas besides lint rolling them everytime they come out of the wash? The little fuzz balls get all over my pj’s and then my house and its getting ANNOYING! Help! thanks!

I’m really sensitive to the thread count sheets for some reason.
I’m looking for the sheets that are 100% cotton, soft, heavy, but not the thread count.
I think they’re called flannel sheets, but every time I go to target or walmart ask them for flannel sheets they look at me as if i’m crazy.

I’m moving from Los Angeles to North Dakota in a few months for school.
Is there anything in particular I should stock up on?
I’ve got the basics down:
Ice scraper for car, getting a new heater/ac put in (never needed it before LOL)
2 pairs of boots, 1 pair of rain boots, leather jacket, many smaller jackets, many long sleeve shirts, tank tops for layering, loads of long socks…
I have flannel sheets, and 2 very thick blankets.
I just got a space heater, too.
I’m sure I’m missing something, or just haven’t thought of something.
=/
If you live in a cold place, what are your essentials?

What specifically? Thanks for sharing. =D
I’m thankful for a warm, comfortable bed (it’s been really cold here) & flannel sheets, a good cup of coffee to savor & enjoy, food in my pantry (I haven’t been working very much d/t health issues & family responsibilities), my little dog who loves me no matter what, the love of family & friends. I could go on & on………
Cin1: That’s profound–& a great attitude to have
Jon M: You’re welcome. Thank YOU for that great answer
SD: It’s an attitude thing–you recognise that you could just as easily not have these things. =)
PeterPan: I relate. Thanks for taking the time to share
HandBana: It’s more the state of mind I’m interested in. Your beliefs or lack thereof aren’t something I’ll fall out over. Peace.
orchidmg: Me, too, Hun; me, too.
ciplez: My point exactly. Thank you.
Thank you all for these thoughtful answers. I’d like to comment on all of them but Im late for an appointment!

My room is freezing and the heat is turned on really low. I have flannel sheets, a fleece blanket, and a quilt in my bed. I am wearing a long sleeved thermal shirt and fuzzy pants. My dad will kill me if I turn the heat up. I also have a terrible cough so what can I do about that? What can I do to be warmer?

Could be a profession or a person you know.
and WHY?
Me- My mother! There would be hunting trophies, guns and other weapons displayed everywhere. Examples…antler candelabra, bear print flannel sheets, camo shower curtain that sort of thing…
Mz. Ro…part of the reason I’m a top contributor is because I know when and how to use "your", "you’re" and sometimes "yore". The other part would be because of my answers, not my questions.
Evertight…did you have an epiphany moment when you realized "Aurelia" is an expression of my issues with my mother and not an expression of what I think about men? LOL

I have often bought used flannel sheets from Thrift Stores but now am concerned with the bed bug issue. They have arrived in the city in which I live. I want to know if anyone can advise me about how to prevent them. Do I stop buying clothing and bedding from thrift stores? Or can I keep the merchandise in bags in the cold night air overnight killing any? Does heat (from a clothes dryer) or freezing cold kill bed bugs that maybe present? I don’t know if heat or cold kills them.

Someone told me that if I wash my stained-flannel sheets with oxy-clean and warm water the stains will come out. But they didn’t say how much I should use.

My flannel sheets are stained with the stuff I wash my face with (I have bad acne so it’s strong fash wash). How do I remove the stains? I’ve tried washing them with hot water and pouring in vinegar. It helped only a little. Please don’t recommend I use a different face wash because I have tried for years to get my face clean and this one works best.

I’m trying to make a set of flannel sheets for a super single sized waterbed. it’s 48 by 84 inches. i can find bolts of fabric that are 54, but my grandmother thinks that it was measured after it was folded. so would 54 wide really be 108 inches?
i was either going to make pockets for the corners and tuck in flaps down all the sides or do the same with 2 flat extra long twin size sheets if i can find some.

We just found out we are expecting #2! And we just got finished getting the bed ready for winter, flannel sheets, heated mattress pad, and heated blanket. Do we need to take the heating things off? I read you couldn’t use a heating pad while pregnant due to electrical impulses being dangerous to the unborn baby. I didn’t use anything like that during pregnancy #1. I will ask the doctor, but until then, just wondering if anyone else has heard the same thing?

what type of sheets are the cold ones? like obviously flannel sheets are not cold… so is it like the higher the thread count equals cold sheets? i don’t want flannel, silk, or the kind that are dry/scratchy and warm.. i just want nice cold sheets
