How long do you think that it would take to dry an entire bed sheet with a couple of blow driers?

The drier died & the laundromat is closed.
So my guinea pig is going to have a C&C cage, and the blankets will obviously need to be cleaned. The people who use the washer and dryer in my house aren’t comfortable with me washing the fleece in there, with the poos and the pee and stuff. The local laundromat is about 20 minutes away, which is a problem. Is there any way for me to hand-wash it, while still getting the smell and bacteria out of the material? What should I do??
I can never seem to get my clothes very clean at the local laundromat. They have various sized machines, all front loaders. They have three compartments, two for laundry detergent and one for softener. The instructions say to put detergent in both compartment one and two. I guess one is for the soak and two is for the wash. How much detergent do I put in each compartment? Also, how full should the washer be to get the best clean?
They are here, and they are driving me crazy!!!!
We did everything we thought we were supposed to do:
* We paid for a pest control company to come and take care of it.
* We didn’t change the mattress but we bought from the pest control company this special covers to keep whatever is inside in, and whatever is outside out.
* We did the same with spring box
* We took EVERY SINGLE cloth from the house (from clothes, beddings, towels, rugs, curtains…) to a laundromat, and washed all on hot, and trowed all bags used to transport clothes on the garbage (and brought back home on brand new ones).
* We slept on air mattress on living room for a week after decontamination by company
* We did not bring any cloth upstairs (part contaminated).
* We ONLY went upstairs for one week 2 x a day to vacuum
So yesterday, for first night, 9 days after pest control came, we decided to try and sleep upstairs…
Woke up all bitten. Blood marks on sheets, and so far have seem 6 of them walking around. HELP!
We are moving to a new house on June 20th. I tried but there is anyway we can move before. So I have 2 worries:
- get free of them on this house
- Make sure they are really gone so we don’t take them to new house (I am really considering trowing away my 3 quite NEW dressers and bed, and get all new when I move to next house – even though they cost me a fortune… I just am desperate and don’t know what to do
)
Are they interchangable? I picked up a really nice one at a thrift store, but smells musty & will take to laundromat to was in large load machine. This one came with a cover & pillow cases to match, so it was used as a comforter.
I have a box stitched comforter and my cat decided to mark it. So we took so a laundromat, and the feathers are all clumped on one side of the boxes. Then when I shake it, they go to the other side of the boxes. How do I fluff it back up? Do I just keep working it?
Thank you!
Can I wash a down comforter at a laundromat? Oily Indian food was spilled on it.
I was living in an apartment complex that had bed bugs and I was unaware of it. The infestation started in the apartment below us I was told. That apartment got sprayed for bugs and then they came up to my apartment. I was never told of the infestation or to keep an eye out for bugs, until it was too late. At first I thought I was allergic to the detergent i was using cause I thought I was breaking out in hives. I changed my bed sheets and detergent and the itchy didn’t stop.
A month goes by and I happen to be talking to some other tenants in my building and they told me they had bed bugs and were treated for them already. I started looking around and found that my mattress had blood stains on it and i started seeing the bugs. My mattress had to be thrown out and they eventually spread throughout the apartment. We had to get rid of our two couches as well as my queen size mattress.
We got the complex to spray our apartment and the surrounding ones and we had to bag up all our stuff and take it to get cleaned. I ended up spending at a laundromat plus the cost of the mattress and two couches we had to throw away. I slept on an air mattress and was still getting bit. They were supposed to spray 3 times but they only came twice and I was still finding the bugs; in my filing cabinet, dressers, walls, covers, etc.
We decided to break our lease because the problem was not being fixed, we also had roaches and a mice problem as well. Our apartment was not dirty and we cleaned a lot but the insects still came even after the treatments. They were in the walls and just moved from apartment to apartment. I spent 3 months with beg bug infestation, having to worry about having people over, going to others apartments, I didn’t want them to spread. I always washed my clothes and sheets just to be safe but nothing worked.
Eventually we moved to a different complex, we had to wash every piece of fabric and check all the furniture. So that is where I am now, a different apartment complex and I’ve found 4 bugs already. I have gotten bit a few times and I found one in my clarinet case the other day. I have no idea how they traveled with us but they did. I don’t know what to do because I don’t know who is responsible. Are we going to get blamed for bringing them in, or is the old complex responsible for not getting rid of the problem. I don’t want them to spread to other tenants apartments but I’m not sure if I should tell my new apartment complex or get a private exterminator. Any suggestions or stories would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone. If I get a private exterminator how much would it cost? Also, would it be reasonable to ask the old complex to pay for it? Or at least the money we lost?
at the laundromat the machines are with sings indicating number of loads. Which one do you pick for a king comforter, 3,5,7, loads? the owner usually tries to cram it in a smaller machine. But i usually wonder if the king needs more room in the washer to get clean. any ideas?
i need to get my blankets clean asap. last year at my old barn the women told me she went to some laundromat and did them herself. This is a good option for me but i have heard that many laundromats will not let you wash blankets because of all the hair and dirt. They are to dirty for me to clean myself and be satisfied. i have tried many times before its just never the same as fresh clean. our local tack shop sends blankets out but its to expensive to send out like 10 blankets. any suggestions?
My dog peed all over my down comforter. Right now we are trying to get the smell out by letting the half she marked sit in the tub with a little water and baking soda. People are telling me to put it in the washer, but I dont have a front loading washer and its too late to take it to a laundromat. Can I still dry it in my at home dryer, even though its not an extra large dryer and the comforter is a California King?
what’s the best and easiest way to get blood out of a bedspread? it’s already dried and i already tried putting cold water on it and it hasn’t worked very well. i’d like to spot treat it if possible, since i do not have an opportunity to take it to the laundromat. also, i don’t want to bleach it because the comforter is a deep yellow. thanks for any help!!!
It takes too long to fold this item in a laundromat and it ends up a mess. The problem is created by the elastic perimeter.
I was in the laundromat today and i saw two ladies wearing rubber gloves carrying huge plastic bags. and as i watched i noticed that in the bag were soiled bed sheets covered in vomit, urine, and feces.
I cant think that this would be legal. Shouldn’t it be a law that they must provide this service themselves? Without spreading the elderlies’ waste throughout the population.
"You cannot wash the cover. It is likely to fall apart."
Well, that seems to be the consistent response that I received from the sales folks in 3 stores, and calling customer service twice. Well guess what… THEY’RE LYING !
I’ve had my King model 5000, dual chamber for 4+ years now and am VERY happy with it.
Last week one of my pooches urinated on it, and my wife went into a tizzy. I immediately inquired and was told by everyone at SC that it CANNOT be washed and must be replaced.
CS was so nice on the phone. "We’re going to pick up the first 64% of the replacement cost…" were the first words she uttered. I was tickled pink. But the next words were "…and you’ll pay only 6". I almost fainted.
Well, my wife and I decided to implement "Plan A".
Went to the local laundromat where they have LARGE capacity washers. We put the top cover (soiled section) into the largest machine on delicate.
We washed it TWICE, and then put it in the dryer for almost an hour.
SUCCESS !
