I know that we are going to have to rent linens, and flatware for our wedding. I am so anxious about the cost though. I want it to be GORGEOUS but we are on a shoe string budget.
How much did you pay and did you get what you wanted (or have to skimp)?
I have mysterious bites on my legs, especially the right one around the knee. The bites are mainly my legs above the knees and some scattered bites onmy abdomen/back. I have no mosquitos and no animals so I doubt it would be fleas, and they do not look like spider bites either. I can’t figure out what’s been chewing on me!
I checked the mattress for bloodstains and bug poop and found none. I washed my linens and got no bites for a day, then started getting them again.
Also, my boyfriend has no bites at all. What could this be? Bedbugs are the only thing that slightly make any sense, but I hope that isn’t what it is.
While cleaning out my Mom and Dad’s house I found many beautiful Irish (and I believe some French Canadian) made linens that have never been used but were stored incorrectly. They have some brownish spots here and there that I believe came from the brown paper bags they were stored in. I know cleaning them involves much soaking, but I don’t know in what solutions.
I have this questions listed in cameras for that part of the help I need. This trunk had all types of hidden treasures inside it. I bought it at auction unopened and I found an expensive silk rug wrapped in a wax type paper, some coins from France, and sheets and linens with the Initials DK. B. embroidered very ornately with a crest. Those sheets etc had rotted but the silk threads were there and readable. But worth zip due to rot.
The Steamer Trunk is very large, very large. It was owned by someone with the initials L.V. that he had stamped on the two brass handles and under the lock. So, either L.V. was related to DK. B. or DK. B had borrowed or rented the trunk. I found out that steamer trunks were rented or leased as well as sold back then and since no one picked this one up it may have been purchased from L.V. by DK. B. ? We just don’t have a clue. Next, the coins were all French and all had the same date 1910 and were French, gold, silver, 12 of each. And the silk knotted rug.
Getting the trunk down to remove all of our Junk stored inside we dropped the trunk and here a crack sound. When it was emptied and opened we found a Secret compartment that had been nailed to the bottom of the Steamer. We looked for a trick lever or opening but there were none so someone fetched me a pry bar and a special spanner to pry open very gently the compartment and remove some tiny nails and nuts. Inside were two very very old cameras. Both wrapped in the same wax paper, in like new condition. One was black in a leather black case and strap all in great shape. But, oddly, the other was in a dark green case and it was dark green. I managed to learn how to open the cameras and placed each inside a large dark bag and I found odd sized film in the green one.
Anyone know of a trunk company initial L.V. or someone long ago with initial DK. B. with some sort of crest? The crest was also rotted and a mess and not clear enough to make anything more out. Anyone know of a special company to develop this film? Somewhere close in the Dallas Fort Worth Area? It could be junk or could be special since they were hidden? The sooner we get the film looked at by a true pro and not something like a photoshop, we can possibly find out who DK. B. was or is and who was or is L.V. who owned this trunk. And, it could be just junk for all we know. But, we expect it to be something really interesting due to the first items found hidden inside the trunk under the lining and so very old. If it helps the rug dated back 300-400 year agoago and the coins were 1910 each ooneand there were 12 of each both types of coins were the same values.
Thanks for any help you might provide on this continuing mystery.
Hello everyone,
I am hoping to plan a two night trip with a friend of the female variety, and want to stay at a nice inn in vermont. I have previously stayed at the Green mountain inn in stowe, which was wonderful, but extremely pricey. I was wondering if anyone new of any inns that are comparable in amenities, (fireplace, jacuzzi, nice linens….), that isn’t so pricey? I am open to any ski resort in vermont. It just seems that there would be an alternative to getting an equivalent luxurious stay , but somewhere that is cheaper than the most expensive ski town in the east (stowe)? thanks guys!
What is the web site that i go to to find bathroom curtains and linens used at hampton inn hotels?
My linens were washed, then stored. Now they have a sour smell that won’t go away even after multiple washes with good detergents, fabric softener and dryer sheets. Hate to throw out good bed sheets. Any tips?
I have noticed that this closet gets an odd smell in it. Sort of musty. It seems to permeate my clean linens and towels. Is there anything I can do to elimate this odor and keep everything smelling fresh. Thanks
We are having linens for everything else, and I wasn’t sure what is done with the head table. The head table is seating 15 people so it is awfully long. Do you normally have linens for the head table or do you stick with just the standard white, and skirted linens?
I have a 2 story condo and for some reason they didn’t create a linen closet. I used to store the linens in the closet in the second bedroom, but since my boyfriend has moved with me, his stuff is in there.
I know hotels wash the linens for each new guest. I want to know how often do they wash those bedspreads. I’m not talking no-tell-motels. I mean 2, 3 and 4 star hotels. And which hotels are the worse and best when it comes to this question. I know of a hotel in my city that when they wash the linens, they throw them on the dirty floor before pressing them.
I’ll tell you why I’m asking so maybe my question will make better sense.
We have rented a vacation cabin, which contains two full sized beds. My significant other and I have talked about pushing them together to make one big bed so we can sleep more comfortably together. Since we have to supply our own linens for the stay at the vacation cabin, I wanted to see if I could push the full sized beds together and use my king sized sheets from home to make the beds. I thought that the king sized sheets would hold the beds together, and it would also keep me from having to purchase two sets of full sized sheets as we do not own a full sized bed.
ive bought some from walmart and from anna’s linens, and they both loose that silky smoothness within a couple weeks and start tearing at the edges. anyone know of a good brand?
We live in Tampa Bay Florida; want to go to central Oklahoma. We are taking very little furniture, maybe our deep freezer, 3 large filing cabinets, lots of books, 3 computer chairs, no desks, the rest kitchen stuff, clothes and linens and odds n ends. We plan on going as light as possible.
Thank you, Crystal. I was hoping for more responses, but yours indeed was very helpful. I looked into U-Haul, finding out that they had a website which gave you prices. I’m relieved to find out that one-way truck rental was as you said, near the 00 price. Thank you for sharing your experience. I feel more encouraged about moving this distance now.
