Are there any safety requirements for duvet covers (comforters?) in the UK?

I’ve used sheets/etc from many stores thru my life, Ikea and small stores and big stores, and they were all standard soft 100% cotton linens so I didn’t even think they can be any different. Now I got this set for a bed (fitted sheet/pillowcases/etc) from Ikea, and while it’s 100% cotton it feels kinda rough even after multiple washes – a kind of "papery" feel, especially noticeable on pillowcases.
Now the only difference I see from all the previous ones I had that were white maybe with some geometric pattern, is that this one is black.

Is this papery thing because of coloring? Or is there some other factor (I heard there’s thread count and whatnot)? I want to buy normal "soft" sheets, and wonder what to look at if they all say "100% cotton".

I have a nice comforter and bedskirt and everything, but i want zebra print sheets and pillowcases. plz include prices and where to find it and if you could, plz include a link, but u dont have to. don’t say make them ur self, cuz i would rather buy them. also, if u can find a little zebra print pillow. one that u dont sleep on, but u have on ur bed anyway. i’ve seen the sheets at JC penny’s, but I don’t like how on the pillowcases that the zebra print is only on the sides. i want the print to cover the whole sheet or pillow case. and pillow if u can find one. When I buy expensive pillowcases I expect them to look good after washing them, not just feel soft! Even when I tried ironing them, I couldn’t really get the wrinkles out. Anyone else have that problem?

I use queen-size flat sheets (for a double bed) and fitted double-bed-size sheets on the bottom, and have a special-size pillow that requires custom pillowcases (I size them down myself) – so prepackaged SETS don’t give me the flexibility I personally prefer. And, NONE of the places (that I know about – like Penney’s) carry individual sheets anymore. HELP!!

I’m planning on buying some flannel sheets for a twin XL mattress from LL Bean, and they’re not sold as a set: pillowcases, flat sheets, and fitted sheets are sold separately. The fitted sheet comes in the XL size, but the flat sheet only comes in regular twin and full sizes. I like to tuck my sheets OVER my comforter (which will be twin-sized)… will the twin size be long enough to cover the mattress AND tuck over on the comforter, or should I buy the full size and just tuck the excess side fabric under?

Maybe I’m being a little obsessive-compulsive, but I hate knowing that, though they may look neat enough in the linen closet, they’re really just haphazardly folded and only look neat because the flat sheets and pillowcases on top of them are flattening them down.

I need some help in determining the value of some family antique linens. Many of the pieces are white work – or cut work and embroidery (pillowcases/shams, sheets, towels). The most interesting white work piece is a welcoming sheet for newborns (37"x108") with an alternating pattern of cherubs and roses (mint). As for a hand crocheted item, there is an antique bedspread 90"x95" made from individual blocks of raised rosettes. It has a very nice border (needs minor repair). Any thoughts on selling at auction, selling privately, or holding on to them (although I know this is a personal decision).

I have fecal and blood stains on my sheets and pillowcases from bed bugs feasting on me all night. I have washed them and dried them on very high heat which was effective in killing them. But the stains haven’t disappeared. They just get lighter with every time I launder them. Is there a way to remove the leftover stains on my bedding?

I want to get 1000, 1200 or 1500TC single-ply bedding in white (not sateen).
I need: 3 flat sheets (Cal King/super king); 3 duvet covers (cal king/super king); 12 pillowcases.
I can only find sheet sets that include a fitted sheet and no duvet. Or a duvet sets that have no flat sheet. Extra pillowcases are also hard to track down.
Finally – I need them to be sent to Singapore. Can anyone help?
