I am traveling with my dog for the first time. She’s about ten months old and this will be her first time going on a long trip. We are traveling to another state that is about 18 hours away-We will be going in three months, so I have plenty of time to plan. I’m still trying to find a pet friendly hotel/motel that allows medium-large sized dogs and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to keep a dog there. My father has some health issues that require we stop a lot for breaks-so giving the dog time to stretch her legs/eliminate won’t be an issue.

My dog is crate trained but has never rode in the car in a crate. She is usually in the back seat where she sits/lays down. I plan on getting her a travel crate for the trip and hotel. But when she’s in the car if someone isn’t near/around her she seems to get car sick/have little anxiety. I was just wondering if there is anything, aside from medication, that can help with that? Would it be okay to give her a chew toy-like a kong for the ride? Or would it be better to just get a dog seat belt for the ride and a crate for the hotel?

I found a list of what one should bring for a trip with their dog. Here is the list;
Lists of rest stops and veterinary hospitals
Leash
Dog seat belt or crate / kennel
Water and Bowls
Treats
One or two toys
Blanket and/or dog bed
Bags to pick up waste
Medications, if applicable
Dog’s medical records

–Does anyone know of anything else that isn’t on the list that should be brought with or does that list pretty much cover everything?

Also a question about the hotel;
We will be staying there for three-four days. Most places we will be going to will be dog friendly, but there are some places where the dogs(mine and my mothers) will not be able to be brought with. They will be crated for maybe at the most five hours. But that will only be once, and it might not even be for that long. I was thinking of taking the dogs on an hour long walk before hand-would that be good? Or should I give more exercise before?

If anyone has any other advice for traveling with a dog/staying in a hotel with a dog-it would be appreciated. Thank you

My daughters room is quite small and I need extra space. The bed risers I have bought are not high enough or safe. I need to get my daughters twin bed about 15 inches minimum off the ground, in order to store toys underneath. How do I make bed risers to do this, with casters on the bottom to move the bed for ease of making it?

Not sure how to set up a bigger playroom….. I work from home, so need the office set-up to be convenient and we rarely have guests, but I think I should keep the queen bed.

The baby’s room is very small (10×10) and other room twice as large (10×20)… should I squeeze the bed / desk into the small room and leave the large room for baby / play area as my main goal is to have a large space where the baby can spread out his toys now that he is growing (he is 1 now)

Or do I keep the office on part of the large room and somehow divide the rest for baby (convenient b/c I can work while he plays — but who wants computer equipment in the baby’s room??!!)

We are also planning to have anther baby sometime soon, so I giess if I make the large room just for baby, he will later share with the newborn — is this a good idea???

This can’t be so difficult, but I am having quite a time fitting the many needs (baby playroom, office, guestroom, new baby crib area in future) into two spaces

How can I clean my fridge and my bed sheets?

Hi my mom left for vacations and I need to clean my fridge and my bed sheets, but I can’t use the washing machine.

My dog also sleep on bed sheets (he doesn’t like his dog basket) so I need to clean his sheets very well.

What can I use? I was wondering if I could use bleach?
I also need to desinfect my dog’s toys, what can I use?
If I use the washing machine to clean my sheets I’m afraid it will break (long term) because there are a lot of my dog’s hair on them…

How to clean rawhide out of a comforter?

I treat my dog like a child so she chews on her toys when she lays in bed with me. When she has a rawhide, it obviously gets slimy and sticky while shes chewing it and it sticks to the comforter. What is the best way to clean out these spots with out having to wash my entire comforter?

No alternative suggestions, please! I would prefer not to hear stop letting your dog chew raw hides in the bed or anything else insulting and unhelpful.

I have a 1.5 year old and a 2.5 year old who have to share a room. Every night they cry for a few minutes when I put them in their room because they don’t want to go to bed then they play for a hour or more until they fall asleep. They don’t have toys in their room. They have a bed time routine. They go to bed tired. But they just don’t go to sleep easily. Any tips?

My bed is a foot off the ground, and my bunny sits under my bed all day… she has food, water and toys in her cage.
Will she eventually go back in her cage when she is hungry or will she sit under my bed and starve to death?

I have a 5 year old dog who prefers to chew my blankets and pillows as opposed to Rawhide and other toys. I will give her a squeaky toy and she’ll tear it up in 20 minutes and then back to my blanket. Not only is it tearing up my things, I also think it’s bad for her as she ingests parts of the blanket after chewing. Any advice?

Some of my favorite blankets and toys for my son are micro plush or a plush shag. I want to clean and sanitize them, but I am scared I will ruin such beloved items. What do you do to keep the integrity of the plush items fur or fabric?

We are moving our 3 year old girl into our 1and 1/2 year olds room. What rules should we set out for bed time. The oldest potty trains during bedtime too. what can I expect the youngest to understand and do when it comes to bedtime rules? Right now she has the room to herself, she is in a toddler bed. She gets two toys at bedtime, and she plays in her room until she falls asleep, it takes her about 30 minutes to fall asleep, and we keep her door closed so she cant get into things if she wakes up in the night and we dont hear. Our 3 year old is used to sharing a room with her brother (he is going to be 5 thats why we are moving her) so she is used to staying in the room and falling asleep with someone else in the room. The bedtime rules the 3 year old is used to are : you get one toy, stay quiet, stay in your bed, leave the light off, no jumping or climing around on your bed, leave the other person alone so they can fall asleep. I think this is too much to expect from the youngest.

No tags on these toys and blanket for washing instructions.

I sleep with fours of my English bull dogs everynight.
But two of them (will be one year old in Jan 19), especially the girl doesn’t like to sleep at night. She will play her toys and bitting and chewing on my comforter and pillows til 3 am. What should I do to make her sleep at night?
She does have exercise in the daytime.
